2009 must be my unlucky year.
1st January 2009. I arrived back at 6 a.m. coz I was out celebrating New Year's Eve. In a moment of blurriness (It was six in the friggin morning and I still wasn't asleep, mind you), I slumped onto my bed and by the time I woke again at 1 p.m., I officially lost my watch.
A few weeks ago, my printer cartridge went out on me. My Epson printer has 4 ink cartridges: cyan, yellow, magenta, and black.
As it turns out, blood sucking Epson manufacture their printers in such a way that if one color goes out, your printer pretty much won't print anything else. So even though the document you want to print is entirely in black ink and the color that ran out was yellow, the printer won't print.
Sucks, right?
My advice: Never, ever, ever, ever buy Epson printers ever again.
So, off I went to the computer shop, where it sells all sorts of imitation ink cartridges for all types of printers, except for mine. Apparently, my printer is so 'high-end' that you have to get genuine ink cartridges for it. So, I spent $17 for the stupid yellow ink. I got an extra black cartridge, as a spare.
When I fitted my genuine Epson yellow ink cartridge into my printer, my printer couldn't 'read' it and hence, it was an unknown cartridge, and being the 'high-end' printer it is, it just wouldn't work with 'unknown ink cartridges'.
So high-class. Must have genuine stuff only can work one. *scoffs*
After some effort of switching on and off my printer several times and waiting for a few hours, the printer finally acknowledged the ink cartridge as a genuine one and finally complied.
BUT!!!!
The black ink couldn't come out smoothly and my lecture notes had words which were half wiped out.
So I cleaned the printer head a few times until the ink came out smoothly. In the process, I used up the other colors as well so that I had to go to the computer shop again to get more genuine ink cartridges, or else the printer wouldn't print.
I spent like $60 just on my genuine Epson ink cartridges alone.
Have to stress more on the 'genuinity', coz that's the only thing my printer will work with.
After my printer problem was solved, my mouse died on me and again, I had to go to the computer shop to get a new one.
I bought a wireless mouse which cost $29.90.
Which, as you can already anticipate, didn't work, even after I bought it fresh Energizer Lithium batteries which cost $9.90.
I went right back to the shop with the receipt. I topped up an additional $10 and got a new $39.90 mouse.
It finally worked.
One day later, I left my room key on the shuttle bus and I was key-less for the entire weekend. My room mate even had to hide her keys in my shoes so that I could get in when I got back, coz she wasn't in.
On Monday, I went to the office to report my lost key and got a new one, with a fine of $10.
On the same day, I found that I lost three of my bras.
Tuesday morning, I went to the office to report for lost items. The same guy attended to me, and I'm pretty sure he was thinking "My gosh, she lost her key the day before and here she comes again telling me she lost her underwear. I bet she's gonna return again tomorrow telling me she lost her brain."
The guy even remembered my name and address from the previous key incident.
It went something like this:
I walk into the office.
Guy behind the counter who replaced my lost key on Monday: Oh?
Me: Err... I want to report my lost clothes.
GBTCWRMLKOM: Oh, when did you lose them and how?
Me: I'm not sure how I lost them, but I think they got stolen coz I can't find them anywhere else.
GBTCWRMLKOM proceeds to ask me lots of questions about when I last saw them, etc etc. Which was also how it was revealed to him that the clothes I was talking about was actually my three bras.
GBTCWRMLKOM: Thanks. Your name please?
Me: Rachel.
GBTCWRMLKOM: Liew, right?
See!!! He remembered my name from the key incident. How embarrassing.
Me: Uh... Yeah...
GBTCWRMLKOM: Whats your address? You stay at block 41, level 6, right?
Me: Yeah...
GBTCWRMLKOM: What color are your lost bras?
Me: Red, pink, and beige.
I could remember the colors so well coz they were new. My mother just bought them for me three months ago. Not to mention, they cost RM 50 each.
Which goes to say that 2009 is a terribly unlucky year for me, coz I've faced so many misfortunes, and its only February.
P.S.: I bought four new bras today (three actually, it was "buy 3 get 1 free"), and they cost me $180.
P.P.S.: I bought a new Baby-G watch last week. Only $118!!! Whee!!!!

Kevin's birthday
Today is Kevin's birthday.
Happy 19th birthday to you, Kevin!!!
Bought a tiny cake for him yesterday, and then today, we went to the Science Centre for some childish fun.
I know the Singapore Science Centre is mainly catered for kids from ages 6 to 13 and a university student like me should not be wasting my money re-learning elementary science stuff (especially when I'm confusing myself with Quantum Physics, but the Singapore Science Centre tells me F=ma), but it's still kinda fun to be able to try out the simple yet cool experiments I only ever learned in theory many years ago.
Like how sound waves travel through a tube so that you can hear your friend's voice 5 metres away.
Or how an extremely strong magnetic field (say, 3.5 million volts kind of strong) conducts electricity, even in air.
Besides, there are some stuff there that I never really did get around to thinking about.
Ha, ha.
Then, we went to the Omni-Theatre for a sort of 3D kind of educational movie, where the screen fits about half of the entire theatre room.
The title of the 'movie' is Wild Ocean. Or something along the lines of that. Can't really remember. It's about dolphins, birds, seals, and human beings all preying on sardines.
By the end of the show, you'd pretty much be pitying the sardines coz there's practically nowhere for them to run.
Sucks to be a sardine.
Btw, did you know that the Science Centre is only 5 freaking minutes' walk from the Jurong East MRT station? Damn freaking website told us to take the 335 bus from the Jurong East MRT station and made me waste $1.00, when we could have just walked.
Sheesh.
After dinner, we did this glass deco art thingy...
Aiya, dunno how to explain lah. Show you picture:

I know it's kinda childish, but what the heck.
This is the first time in my 19 years of living that I've done something like that.
Sometimes, I wished I were born later coz the stuff kids do nowadays are just so awesomely amazing compared to those SNES games I played when I was young.
Why is it that Mattel expands Barbie's wardrobe at the exact same moment I decided I was too old for dolls?
Sigh.
To top it all off, 3 of my bras were stolen.
They were only less than 4 months old, and my mother bought them for RM 50 each.
Fuck those thieves; they think my daddy fucking owns Victoria's Secret???

CNY shopping n' stuff
Happy Chinese New Year to all my beloved readers!!!
You must be wondering why am I blogging here on the second day of CNY, while other people are still out there eating and collecting red packets.
Well, I'm back in NTU.
Yes, on the second day of CNY, while everyone else is still enjoying the festive season, I'm back in my dingy, tiny room with lots of dust mites as my room mates.
My real roomie isn't back yet.
Oh, well. At least I've got my privacy back at last.
You can't imagine how un-private it is to have relatives from all over squeezed into one single house. Never mind that the house belongs to my rich uncle and there's enough space to accommodate everyone. I still want a room all to myself.
For the past 9 days, I've been procrastinating about blogging about my CNY shopping.
I've found the time (and un-laziness) to finally blog about it.
As all my beloved readers should know, I'm a shopaholic. A shopaholic shopping without parental control for the first time in Singapore.
One can only guess how ugly (or heavenly, to fellow shopaholics) the situation can be.
I bought 2 dresses (one from Bugis, the other from Jurong Point) and a white bolero from Esprit.
I think the total cost of the two dresses cost something like $350. Can't really remember. Bolero was around $80, I think...
Short term memory. Sorry.
Another CNY dress from MNG, bought in Malaysia.
Photos not uploaded here due to laziness.
Then, I went to Vivo and bought two Paris Hilton bags from Tangs and a pair of heels from Charles and Keith.
Don't ask me why I bought TWO freakin' Paris Hiltons. I'm an impulsive shopper.
Here are the pictures:

And then, because I overspent, Tangs thanked me for being such a good shopper by giving me a free TANGS Fashion Lifestyle Card.

It even states the ultimate truth on the back of the card:

See, I told you I'm cute. Even Tangs says so.

Oh, yes. Before I forget.
To those of you out there who think I'm a show off for posting pictures of my stuff and then stating the price, I say,
Yes, I am a show off.
Aren't everyone?
I mean, if you have bought something new, wouldn't you want to show it to your friends? Would you rather hide it at home, because if you bring it out then you'd be a 'show off'? Wouldn't you want to show it to your friends and receive positive comments from them?
So, yes, I am showing off.
I am showing off that I am the proud owner of those two beautiful bags, not because I'm rich enough to buy them, you nitwit.
To those of you who think that I'm showing off my wealth/I'm the daughter of a rich man/I'm just freaking rich, screw you. Coz I'm not. I'm not rich at all. I just cut down on my spending when it comes to other necessities like food (don't worry, I'm not starving myself), and then splurge them all on the other stuff I like.
Besides, I'm merely informing my readers about the price of my purchases, coz isn't that what most people are interested in?
Take for example:
Me: Hey, I've just bought a new bag!!! Isn't it gorgeous?
Friend: Yeah, its beautiful!!! I love it! How much did you buy it for?
or,
Me: Hey, I've just bought a new bag! What do you think of it?
Friend: Ewww!!! It sucks!! It's the ugliest bag I've ever seen. How much did you buy it for?
You see, in any case, people want to know how much you bought something for. Is it so wrong for me to answer my readers' questions in advance, to save their breath from asking again?

Back to the point.
Excited about my purchases, I impatiently wore the white bolero to church two weeks before CNY, threw it into the washing machine alongside with a pair of purple pants I bought from a night market about a month ago, and magically turned my bolero purple.
My freaking white bolero which cost $80 turned purple less than a week after I bought it.
I freaked out, of course.
My bolero wasn't the only victim. My favourite white Roxy t-shirt, yellow towel, bright green shorts, and white undies miraculously changed as well.
As K was helping me hang out my clothes to dry, I peered into the pail and exclaimed "Hey, these aren't mine!! You took someone elses' clothes by accident!!"
To which K calmly answered, "No, they're yours."
After closer inspection, I realised that the clothes definitely belonged to me, just in a different color.
My brand-new bolero, white Roxy shirt, yellow towel, and white undies became purple and my bright green shorts became a dull brown.
The next day, I bleached them all.
Thankfully, my bolero is now white again (but still with a hint of light pink *sigh*) but I've finally re-learned my lesson I learnt so many years ago.
I almost forgot why I stopped buying clothes from the market so many years ago. Now I remember.
When it comes to shopping, the ultimate rule is:
Never, ever, ever, ever even think about buying anything if its' price is too low to be true, sold in the night market, or has questionable quality. NO MATTER HOW CHEAP IT IS.
I guess I got too carried away and totally forgot about the rule's significance. And so, I paid (quite expensively) for my mistake.
At this point, many of you must probably be saying "Well, you're rich and we're not. We can't afford stuff from the mall so we resort to night markets."
To that I say, "Bullshit."
Time is money, and money is time.
Take for example the cheap purple pants I bought from the night market for a mere RM 20. No doubt it was extremely, inhumanely cheap, but what did it do to me?
It made me waste my time and effort bleaching my clothes; time and effort which I could have put to better use like studying, hence getting better grades and securing myself a job which earns me $10,000 a month.
In other words, the purple pants could have cost me a lifetime of income. Lets say I work for 30 years before retirement, I'd have earned ($10,000 x 12 x 30) $3,600,000.
Because of the purple pants, that opportunity might be already gone as we speak.
The pants which initially cost RM 20 would then eventually cost me $3,600,000.
Damn freaking overpriced for a pair of pants, if you asked me.
It all amounts up to the same thing.
If you buy cheap stuff, you'd have to waste more time maintaining them, which is equivalent to wasting money.
I think I would have made a much wiser choice if I bought the pants somewhere else like a real shopping mall (never mind that it would cost me RM 50 more) and then I wouldn't run into the situation of ruining my other clothes and then having to bleach them. At least then I'd have more time to study, get better grades, and then secure myself with a job which earns me $10,000 a month.
Unless of course, if you have got lots and lots of time on your hands but no money, then you hereby have my permission to buy clothes from the night market.
But then again, if you have got too much time and too little money, shouldn't you put that time to good use and go get a job instead? That way, you money would increase, and you wouldn't have to buy clothes from the market anymore.
But then again, what do I know about money?
I'm merely a university undergrad, still depending on her parents for pocket money.

ih.
It's finally Friday again (gosh, how time flies - but on the other hand, hooray for weekends!!!!) and I'm currently in a more decent mood than I have ever been this entire week.
Of course, ignoring the fact that it's only two weeks into the new semester, and I've already missed out on two lectures. I missed the first lecture coz it was at 8.30 in the freaking morning, an awfully ungodly hour to hold a lecture - I do wonder why some people just don't get it - and the second one, lets just say the bed was calling out to me more than the lecture theater did.
Another thing I've been trying to hide at the very back of my head (apparently, I've allowed it to resurface again by talking about it) is that there will be a math quiz next week - personally, I think the tutor's inwardly reaping joy from our misery by reminding us about academic stress in this cunning way - and I've not prepared for it yet.
There's also this in-class assignment for Effective Communication and it's giving me the jitters. Not that my English proficiency is bad enough for me to be scared or anything, but being able to blog well and being able to write well (that includes wrtiting well for the tutor to read and therefore, I am discouraged from writing any content that might prompt her to fail me) are two entirely different things.
On a lighter note, Business Law lecture was suprisingly pretty interesting. It's amazing how the government tries to make the law as fair as possible, but there are, obviously, still some loopholes.
A contract is valid when there is an offer, an accptance, has intentions to sue when the contract is breached, and with consideration.
Yay. I still remember what I learnt.
Should I be a lawyer instead if an engineer?
I've noticed there are lots of egoistic idiots throwing huge chunks of cash at their lawyers just because of measly conflicts.
Something's been bugging me for a long time, and I can't stand it any longer. Allow me to interrupt myself:
The letter "E" on this keyboard just won't come out unless I hit it hard enough.
It's so awfully annoying that I don't car anymor and I think I'll just ingor th fact that this sntnc just looks wird without th lttr "ih" (Th "ih" in this sntnc is actually pronouncd as a crtain lttr that cannot b typd hr coz th kyboard dosn't allow asy accss to it).
Stupid keyboard.
And now, my happy weekend mood is ruined.

Lost and found
The only time I have to blog is in the wee hours in the morning.
*sigh*
Anyway, I've just recalled about this incident last Saturday (I was planning to blog about it but I guess I got too busy) when I carelessly alighted the public bus while leaving my phone behind.
It was about 20 minutes later that I realised that my phone wasn't in my bag.
Panic overwhelmed me. *Isn't that an overused sentence?*
I was at church at that time, so I borrowed somebody's cell phone to call my own but it got into my voice mail. I couldn't call anyone else coz I never did bother memorising anyone's phone numbers. I thought my phone had enough memory for that; my brain cells are reserved for more important stuff, like remembering to check for my belongings before alighting the bus.
So much for saving my brain.
After service was over, I quickly logged onto MSN using the church's computer (thank goodness for technology!!) and began desperately nudging everyone I knew. I finally got Wan Theng to give me K's phone number, whom I then called using another person's phone, coz I was supposed to meet up with K at Orchard Road after church and without my phone, it was going to be rather hard.
Phoneless, I took a cab to the Orchard MRT station, where I waited for a whole 45 minutes (all while coming to the sad realisation that I couldn't very well live without my phone) for K to arrive.
When K arrived, he told me that Angela had called him, saying that my phone had been found.
Turns out that the bus driver found my phone, randomly called somebody from my phonebook (Angela, in this case) so that she could contact me to inform me about it, and then returned the phone to the Service Counter at the Boon Lay MRT station.
That night, I finally got my phone back.
Not before some verification, of course.
The guy at the counter requested for my identity card, peered at it for a long time, asked for some personal photos, browsed through my pictures in my phone, and even viewed one of my stupid videos with me singing 'Happy Birthday' in a retarded kind of way. He compared the images from my phone with my (fugly) face on my identity card for such a long time, I thought he was going to tell me that my photo on my identity card didn't match the ones in my phone.
It was pretty embarassing.
So now, I'm at www.sbstransit.com.sg to commend the honest bus driver, Yap Chai Li.

"Tenjewberrymuds."
Dream Story.
A stupid book which cost $22.50, despite the (oh-so-apparent) fact that it's so freaking thin (only 143 pages) and tiny that I finished reading it in a few hours.
I had to buy it anyway, coz it's supposed to be the text book to my "What is Cinema?" elective course.
Ha, ha.
You think academic stuff influences my decisions that strongly?
I bought it out of curiosity.
I was wondering so badly why my lecturer had to pick that overly-priced yet oh-so-thin book as our text, that I irrationally bought it.
***
Stress is getting at me (yes, again) and I'm wishing I had 48 hours a day to get my tutorials done on time.
Nobody ever understands that a university student ought to be legally given access to more hours per day.
I scarcely have enough time for my blog.
However, I feel guilty if I don't update my blog for an extended period of time.
Yes, that's how passionate I am about blogging, coz it's one of the possible sources of my main income in the near future.
LOL.
Due to lack of good time management, I find that I have not allocated enough time for my blog and I am therefore about to do something very, very, very sinful here.
I am about to copy and paste something from another source, something I swore to myself I'd never resort to coz as I see it, copying from another source degrades myself and my originality.
Anyway, screw it. Here's something interesting I received from a forwarded e-mail:
To get the full effect, this should be read aloud. You will understand what 'tenjewberrymuds' means by the end of the conversation. This has been nominated for the best email of 2007.

Last day of hols
Sorry for the late update. Was awfully busy with... you know... stuff.
Add drop period is on and I'm desperately checking out the vacancies to register for the courses I want. No, not really what I want, but the electives we are given to 'freely' pick.
Like how I know I'm really bad at anything to do with business, but I still have to pick a business-related elective.
If anyone of you decides to drop Business Finance, please let me know. I'm desperate!!!!!!!
Also, to all MAE 1st year students, please also let me know if you decide to change your index numbers. My timetable sucks.
My exam results sucked. Now that I've done moping, I can finally muster up my courage to announce to you that my GPA for the first semester is...
3.34.
Fucking low.
Academic stuff aside, K and I had a sort of 'outing' last Sunday, to commemorate the last day of holidays.
We went to JP for lunch, and then I got him a Sony mp4 player:
Of course, I got him the black one. I'm just posting a pink version of it here coz I wished I could buy him a pink one, but he insisted that he wanted the black.
=(
Then, we went to Vivo to get me a personalized stuffed animal from the Build-A-Bear Workshop to get me a late (and its awfully late, like say, eight months late) birthday present.
First, we picked out the animal we wanted. There were lots of different kinds of bears and other animals, I had an awfully hard time picking out the one I really wanted. Finally, I picked this:
Next, we picked a sound for it (so now everytime I squeeze its right paw, it goes "I love you!! I love you!!") and I even gave it a heart that goes 'dup-dup, dup-dup' when you press its chest. The beating heart alone cost $10 already.
Then, we gave it a real heart. One that would supposedly give it life and makes the rabbit really mine. Yeah, I know it sounds stupid, but its nice to know that there's something meaningful behind all these bear-making stuff, and that there's actually a nice, solemn ritual that makes spending $80 on a stuffed animal all worth while.
I picked out a bright red heart and rubbed it, kissed it, let K kiss it, and then squeezed it hard while I made a wish.
*As the heart goes into the bear, may my wish come true.*
Then, we shopped for its clothes.
I picked out a bathrobe for it coz it was soft and comfy.
Besides, I don't think I'd want to hug a rabbit wearing a lacy tutu or a sequin-embedded punk dress to sleep at night.
Bathrobes make stuffed animals seem more homely, don't you think?
I love it's furry rabbit bathroom slippers, too.
They were awfully hard to put on.
I even bought it a cute Hello Kitty underwear which cost $6.90:
I know it won't be actually visible under it's bathrobe, but if people wear undies, why not my stuffed animal? I brought it to life, so there.
I named it Fifu.
I know it's a weird name, but I couldn't think of any better ones.
Then, K and I went back to JP, shopped a bit for my CNY clothes, and took silly photos (which cost us $8!!!) at the photo booth at the arcade. You can view them at my Friendster profile.
Finally, we watched Yes Man before heading back to get ready for class the next day.
I'm going to get a GPA of 5.1 this semester!!!!!

Welcoming 2009
Ahh... The first day of 2009. The sun is shining brightly, birds are chirping, and NTU is such a quiet and serene place to be.
I even managed to see the first sunrise of the year before falling asleep at 7 in the morning.
=)
Yesterday's celebration went pretty much how I expected it to go.
On the eve of New Year's day, I woke up at 9 a.m. to catch a flight back to Singapore. Finally arrived back at my room at 4 p.m., took a quick shower, unpacked my stuff, and went to JP at 5.30 p.m. for some shopping.
I bought a paintbrush eyeliner, a box of blusher, a stick of eyeshadow, and a bottle of nutrients I'm supposed to apply on my eyelashes on a daily basis so that they will grow longer and thicker.
All from the Face Shop.
Damn ex la.
Looking forward to thicker and longer lashes!!!
Then, at 6 p.m., I met up with Sin Wei and we went to Vivo City to meet the others.
We didn't do much, except for playing truth or dare, going for toilet trips, and snack hunting. With a little bit of alcohol to complete the picture. That went on for four hours, and then we whooped as the fireworks went off at midnight.
After that, my feet began to hurt so badly I had to walk barefooted. At least I wasn't drunk.
We squeezed our way through the MRT station and arrived at Clarke.
There were lots of booze, boobs, and cigarette smoke.
We pretty much walked around aimlessly and then waited damn freaking long for a bus to take us back.
At 5 a.m., we arrived at City Harvest, where we had our supper/breakfast.
I walked all the way from City Harvest to Hall 8 barefooted, coz my feet was hurting like hell.
Not to mention, I was tired, sleepy, sticky, and icky.
When I finally got back at 6a.m., I took a bath, did my laundry, disturbed Zhi Vern in her room, and caught a glimpse of the first sunrise of 2009 before falling asleep.
Hence, the commencement of 2009.
Happy New Year, people.
Photos coming soon.

Tis the season to be jolly
Was out for a Christmas Eve celebration.
As usual, the main reason I go out isn't because of what the day is. Nah, I'm just there to, well, join the crowd.
Festivals mean very little to me. As I see it, they're there just so that people can use them as an excuse to party and go crazy, just for that one day.
So screw Santa hats, Santa costumes, and Christmas tree decorations. I'm just interested in the booze and the crowd.
Jia, Phaik Yean, Xing, Cindy, Jack and I went for dinner at Jemputree, a Malay restaurant at Burma Road. The food was okay, but there was just this one thing which annoyed me:
On the menu, it wrote:
Mermaid -
Soda mixed with strawberries, strawberry-flavoured ice-cream, with whipped cream. RM 8.90
It sounded good, so I decided to order it; despite the fact that deep down, I knew it was waaaayyy overpriced for a glass of beverage.
When my 'Mermaid' came, I realised it was just F&N strawberry-flavoured carbonated drink with a scoop of cheap ice-cream at the top.
knnccb.
I could get that for RM 2 anywhere else.
Still, I'd recommend that you pay the restaurant a visit, coz their ambiance definitely makes up for their overpriced food and drinks.
After dinner, we went to Gurney which was, as usual, awfully packed with people.
I met up with K and we went window shopping for awhile, then we met up with a few other ex-classmates at Starbucks. We pretty much spent the rest of our night there (with the occasional toilet trip), playing lame games coz nobody remembered to bring poker cards.
At about 11.30 p.m., we finally came to the sad realisation that Christmas at Gurney was just all noise and crap and snow spray, so we went to the nearest 24-hour convenience store, got some snacks and beer, and headed back to PY's place.
Here's a picture of me, half drunk (kiddin), trying to french kiss Bobby the dog.

We gossipped till we fell asleep.
We took other pictures too, but I'm waaaay too lazy to upload them here.
I won't promise that I'll upload them anytime soon, because I've just realised that I'm pretty bad at keeping promises.
Besides, I still owe you guys the pictures from the Little Grass outing to Penang.
I'll try asking the photographer to send them to me.

Emo
It's funny how the holidays make people go emo. I guess lack of studying and stress does make you think more about your real purpose in life. It kinda makes you think about what you're doing right now, and all of a sudden, it seems like your life is filled with the emptiness of studying, studying, and more studying, with the occasional play times.
Also, how people change. Physically, mentally, emotionally.
"Your're worse than a Shinigami. Shiori really loved you deeply. Did you ever loved her?"
"I'm not sure."
The more you think about it, the more confused you get.
Then, the more complicated stuff comes in. Like how you've wasted the first quarter of your life doing absolutely nothing, and how it might just as well continue this way for the next three quarters.
What have I done? Like, really. What real things have I done?
I'm turning 19 in another six months, and I can't even recall what I've done all this while to get this grown up already.
Speaking of which, is there actually any special requirements for a person to be considered a grown up?
I'm beginning to believe that nobody really turns into a grown up. They are just because we think they are.
What do people think of me?
I don't think I will ever get to know.
Nobody ever sees this emo side of me. Outside, I'm a fun-loving, outgoing and extroverted person, but when it comes down to personal matters, I'm just a young, helpless, confused kid who doesn't know what to do with her life.
Lately, I have been browsing through people's friendster profiles, and I've got this feeling of unspeakable emptiness and delusion which just gets stronger and stronger.
I don't know why.
The more friendster photos I view, the more I think "Who are they?", even if they're my close friends and the more closely I see their faces, the more they get illusionally distorted. I know it's all in my mind, but it sort of makes me think what people really are.
Are they aliens? Immature beings who, like me, don't really know what they're doing with their lives? I mean, even if I were to try to do something 'meaningful' like volunteer work, helping out in the orphanage, donating to the needy and such, I'd probably be doing it for 'aimless' people, which, in turn, makes my voluntary work seem pretty aimless too. What then, is the point of doing anything at all?
We might as well all be dead.
I view people's photos and I see lots of different things. Mostly, I see people smiling.
And sometimes, when they smile too much, I start to hate them.
Maybe I'm just very bored.
Or maybe I'm just thinking too much.
难道开心的事,我就特别不在意吗? 伤心,是为了什么?为什么伤心就是不好的呢?
The second semester will be starting soon. That should stop the emo-ness.
Don't worry, I won't kill myself just yet. I still have my four years of university life to complete.
P.S.: I'm going to eat chocolate fondue at Haagan Daz tonight!!!!!! I *heart* chocolate!
Also, how people change. Physically, mentally, emotionally.
"Your're worse than a Shinigami. Shiori really loved you deeply. Did you ever loved her?"
"I'm not sure."

Little Grass outing to Penang!!!
So!!! Have been awfully, awfully busy these few days, hosting some NTU-ians who have come to Penang for holiday!!!
Peeps who visited:
The cute gals - Yurong, Wan Theng, Zhi Vern, Jia Yi.
The silly guys - Boon Cheng, Vincent, Wai Hon.
18 Dec 2008
At 8 in the freaking morning, I had to crawl myself out of bed coz Uncle Cheng said he would arrive at Penang early in the morning.
Got an hour or so of sleep after settling him in the guest room, and then my mum brought us for breakfast at 10am.
BC, my little cousin, and I went to Prangin Mall after that to get a fake iPod (2GB for RM *** only!!!! Cheap right!!) for Yurong as her birthday present.
Inside some more got record our voices saying happy birthday to her one okay!!!!
Then, we met Yurong and we wasted some time at the arcade (stupid punya Initial D) before going back home, where BC, Yurong and I teamed up on DotA ( I LOVE DOTAAAA!!!) against AI. Me on my laptop, Yurong on hers, and BC on the desktop. We lost.
=(
Then, my mum brought us to eat laksa!!!! Yum!
Later in the evening, we went to meet the other five people, who just took a cab from the bus terminal to Gurney Drive. Of course, we had dinner at the famous hawker centre there. Damn delicious leh!
After dinner, we went to Gurney Drive for a 'romantic' walk, where we bought 3 bottles of bubble-blowing-soapy-thingy-whateveryoucallit. RM 1 per bottle. Damn cheap leh!!!
Nearby was a little boy shooting bubbles out of his soap-gun. Walao. How come kids these days so high-class one? Bubbles also use gun to shoot already. When I was younger, I had to blow my own bubbles till I went out of breath.
So there we were, a bunch of 20+ year olds (except me lor...), blowing bubbles and popping them. Zhi Vern even had a bubble fight with the boy with the bubble gun. Of course the gun produced more bubbles lar.
Later at night, we went to Coffee Bean, where we bought a mini cake and gave Yurong a surprise birthday celebration. You should have seen her surprised expression when we brought her the cake and sang her Happy Birthday. Just as she thought that was all, we presented her with the fake iPod, which shocked her even more.
I think she was so touched, she almost got teary eyed.
Hehe.
We camwhored a little more at the Christmas tree in front of Gurney Plaza before heading home.
Snuggled comfortably in my room, all of us began our discussion on tomorrow's plans, discussed money matters ("Eh you owe me RM10 leh!" "No lah, you owe me RM 50!!"" "Then Yurong's birthday present not yet include leh?" "I paid for the dinner and the cake!!" "Hey, you owe me money for bus tickets!"), and looked for cars to rent.
19th Dec 2008
The next day (I woke up at eight in the friggin' morning!!), my mum brought the guys to the airport to pick up two Kancils, while us girls went out to the nearby kopi tiam to tah pow breakfast for everybody. After breakfast and some more procrastinating, we finally got into the cars and headed off to Penang Hill.
We had to wait fucking long for the tram lor.
Being the impatient me, I got bored and began molesting the girls' asses, blaming the guys for it. In the end, nobody wanted to stand near me. =(
Penang Hill was okay. We saw some really, really big spider webs with really, really big spiders on them. The canopy walk was closed, though. How sad.
After buying some snacks, Yurong broke her skewer into three parts.
Me: Here are three sticks. Each guy takes one, and he who gets the longest one gets to sleep with me tonight. The rest of you can sleep in the car porch.
*BC got the longest one**
BC: Just now, you said that who gets the longest one doesn't need to sleep with you tonight, right?
Hello!!! some people have been waiting their whole lives to sleep with me okay!! I'm now giving you the opportunity of a lifetime and you're throwing it away just like that!!!
Lol.
After some wrong turns and missed junctions, we finally arrived at Penang Road for some chendol, and to New World Park for lunch.
In the car, Vincent (the driver of the car) suggested that me and him pretend to have gotten into an argument and he told me to tell Theng (she's in the other car) that I want to swap places with her.
So, when we arrived at the Toy Museum, I walked up to Theng. BC was standing nearby.
Me: Hey, I wanna swap places with you later, okay?
Theng and BC: Huh? Why?
Me: Nothing.
Theng and BC: ...
*later**
Theng: Hey, why did you want to swap places with me?
Me: This one you have to ask Vincent yourself lor...
Theng: ...
The Toy Museum had soooooo many toys and action figures!!! I found many favourites there (Lara Croft *Damn, her boobs here HUGE!!**, Nightmare before Christmas, Pokemon, etc), but my favouritest was a life size figure of the Night Elf from War Craft.
After that, we visited the beach, where I emo-ed.
Can't blame me. Beaches in the evenings make me go sappy.
After that we went to Batu Ferringhi.
Me: Eh, Batu Ferringhi got sell a lot of kiam pneah, you know? Wanna buy some? We could watch it together tonight.
BC: Aiya, no need to waste money lar, go home download yourself lar.
('Kiam pneah' literally means salted biscuits in hokkien, which is a slang for pornography.)
Upon arrival at Batu Ferringhi...
Me: Ah Cheng!!! I wanna eat kiam pneah!!
BC: Yala, you always also like one lah...
Me: Eh, btw, have you tried kiam pneah with Milo before? Damn delicious leh.
We made a fool of ourselves.
Wai Hon and I took silly 'lala/act cute' pictures together.
BC and I checked out hot chicks.
Vincent and I (or maybe it was just me alone) tried our best to act like we were still fighting.
That night, we had snacks while watching Death Note, but we were too sleepy and tired to even finish the movie.
Apparently, Vincent and I weren't very good at acting, because nobody even realised we were fighting. In the end, Theng just laughed at us.
20th Dec 2008
Boon Cheng barged into the girls' room (my room) and made so much noise ("Oi!!! Time to wake up!! Don't sleep anymore!! We guys got ready a long time ago. Why are you girls still sleeping??") that I had no choice but to wake up.
We went to return the two cars to the airport, then we walked a little at Queensbay.
Vincent: Eh, lets go to the lingerie shop.
Me: Har??? Who do you want to buy underwear for?
Vincent: Of course I want to buy it for somebody who can wear it for me to see lar...
Me: Who? I thought you don't have a girlfriend?
Vincent: Yeah, I'm waiting for one.
Me: Ohh... Okay. Then why would you want to buy lingerie now? Oh, I know! Did you want to follow the idea of the Cinderella story?
Vincent: What Cinderella?
Me: Remember the prince had the glass shoe and he said that whichever girl whose foot can fit the glass shoe perfectly gets to be his wife? So why don't you get a D cup bra, and you let all the girls in NTU try it on? Who fits the bra best gets to be your girlfriend.
Vincent: ...
Zhi Vern was the main photographer in this trip. I'm still waiting for her to send me the tons and tons of pictured we took.
Please be patient!!! I promise, I'll upload them all!!!
P.S.: Vincent, you left your toothbrush at my place. Do you want me to return it to you when we meet again in NTU?
P.S.2: The price of the fake iPod was removed just in case the birthday girl happens to read this.

An achievement
"Of course, if you pierced the top part of your ear, it'd hurt more than the usual."
"Oh, and when you bath, do take extra care when you're washing your ear."
"You will have to remember to wipe your ear dry after bathing. It may hurt a little though, so wipe it gently."
"If you accidentally sleep on the side of your ear where you just pierced it, it'll hurt, so be careful."
That's what the girl told me, while she was preparing the equipments for ear piercing.
Like my own fear isn't enough, she just had to tell me all those.
"It's just some things I thought you should know, you know?"
Yeah, but what if after telling, I decide not to pierce my ear anymore?
They'd lose RM6 off their total revenue.
Lol.
Today, I finally overcame my fear of pain and courageously went for a sixth piercing in my ear!!!
Congratulate me!!

Edward Cullen
90% of the blogs I read has at least one blog entry which goes something like:
"Ohmigosh Twilight is such a nice movie!!!!!!", "Edward is soooooo cute that I'm gonna dump my boyfriend for him!!!", "I loooooove Twilight sooooooo much!", and so on and so forth.
Sometimes, of course, it'd be just a mere "I watched Twilight" kinda thing.
Let me show you some examples:
Watched TWILIGHT.
So FINALLY, after hearing so much hype about Twilight, we finally went to watch it. I can see why girls all over the world are absolutely gaga over Edward Cullen. He's sexy, brooding, gorgeous, and a vampire. I liked the storyline, and it's making me that much eager for the 2nd instalment! >_<>_<
Watched Twilight.
Edward is SUPER DUPER CUUUUUTEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Oh, how I wished he could be my boyfriend. Being cold-blooded doesn't bother me too much. At least he will never die and leave me a widow.
Anyone interested?
P.S: I really should be more careful about over-coloring my blog entries, or else they might turn into one of those oh-so-colourful bimbotic blogs. The worst thing is, they don't even contain real blog posts; they are just full of messy, jumbled up, meaningless words which come in different fonts, shapes, colors, sizes, etc.
Oh, yes. They're heavily decorated with La-la pictures too.

Edward Cullen is really, really, really cute okay!!! Must watch Twilight!!!! Lets watch it together!!!
Okay, maybe that's like only two examples (Xing doesn't count coz she doesn't own a blog), which does not even make up of 30% of the blogs I read, but you get my point.
Not that I'm not like that. On the 10th of December 2008, I wrote:

Maybe we bloggers should create a new Edward Cullen fan club.

Desperate Measures
"You have to appreciate the irony. After all these years of being locked up, I'm given the opportunity to kill again. A cop's kid too, and all I have to do is sit right here."
-Peter McCabe, Desperate Measures-
I just finished watching it. It's about a cop who's willing to do anything to stop his son from dying from cancer, but the only one who can save him is a dangerous prisoner.
I'd recommend it.
You know, you can't always hate prisoners. That's what I've learnt from this movie. Sometimes, you just gotta respect them for their sharpness and intelligence.
Respect, respect.
Speaking of respect, yes, I do respect rich people too, but if they're filthy rich but stupid and dumb, then what's the point? I only appreciate people with brains, not people with money. Unless of course, if all the money they'd earned was by their intelligence and wits, then that would be a different story.
Anyway, I love smart people.
"Isn't it nice to be in control?"
-Peter McCabe, Desperate Measures-
Yep, it sure is nice to be in control. That's the privilege people get for being smart.
Like how I am in control of my blog, so that pathetic losers who do not have a life of their own can't contaminate my blog with their uncivilized nonsensical comments.
I mean, there are people out there who actually gain pleasure from spamming others' blog with irrelevant lame stuff?? Oh, and apparently, these people are even creating multiple names for themselves and creating their own conversations, just to make it seem like they're one big group of people ganging up against me, when in reality, it's only one pathetic loser!! Makes me wanna laugh till I gag. Gosh, I pity their sad, lifeless corpses. How pathetic can they get?
I thought people usually gain pleasure from more concrete stuff like money, blow jobs, etc?
Lol.
Who has the last laugh now? No comments? Replies? Unable to type anything in my chat box? Awww... Isn't that sad. What a pity.
*grins*
Lets not dwell any longer on the unfortunate fact that they can't type in my chat box anymore, shall we? They're already moping, and it's not very nice to add salt to others' wounds.
*grins more*
Besides, I'm smart. I can track them down easily if I wanted to, but being the kind and generous person that I am, I shall stop them from spamming my blog, coz their spamming might enable me to track them down (like how I already know that majority of them are from KL, and some from Johor and Kedah) and who knows what I can do to people when they piss me off? I don't want 'innocent people' like them to come to the sad realisation that they might be better off dead.
Ain't I the kindest?
P.S: I hate kids who think they're oh-so-grown up just because they're already in secondary school. Don't make me hate you.
=)

La-la's
There are some people in the cyber world whom I have some issues with.
Especially those people I see in Friendster.
1. Those who TyP LyK Tis aNd ThiNk itS sO CuTE.
You should see their Friendster profiles. Their shout out usually goes something like this:
"Hu wAn b FwEnz wiF miee cAN Add miee aT xxxxx@hotmail.com...B fwEnZ wiF Miiiee Orhz!!"
My response to that is this:
................
What the fuck is wrong with them? Can't they type normally like how it's supposed to be? Alternate upper casing makes my head go dizzy. Apparently, they don't think it's enough only for the first letter of every sentence to be capitalized.
One can't help but wonder how their English language teacher taught them grammar.
And whats with the "OrHz"? Is that even a word???
My goodness.
2. Those who upload images of weird, horrendous alien-like creatures and claim that they're pictures of themselves.
You've probably seen them before. Friendster is unmercifully infested with them. Those big, beady eyes and strained, pursed and contrived lips, with the occasional finger on cheek.
Here are some examples:

Who are they think they're kidding? Humans actually look like that??? Thank God they don't, or I'd kill myself already.
*shudders*
3. Those who upload ten IDENTICAL pictures of themselves and expect people to magically develop some kind of patience to view them all.
It doesn't help when all ten of them are as fugly as alien-wannabes.
And what is it with them and public washrooms???
They stand in front of the public washroom mirror and do this:
*repeat above process ten times with slightly different positions*
Can't you people just take normal photos with normal backgrounds instead of the toilet? Nobody wants to look at your mirror image so for goodness' sake, STOP TAKING PICTURES OF THE WASHROOM MIRRORS. Nobody wants to know what chio camera or camera phone you used to take your pictures, coz they're all fugly anyway.
Oh, and do stop uploading all ten identical pictures of yourself. As much as you think you're cute/sexy/pretty, not all people think so. Just pick the best picture and be done with it.
Do. Not. Torture. Our. Eyes.
4. Those who caption their photos with 'glamorous' names and draw weird designs on their faces.
Yeah, they're glamorous alright.
Example:
Wahh. So cute.
5. Those who misuse the "About Me" section in their Friendster profile.
Example:
Favourite Movies: AlL de nIcE mOviEz I oSo Lyk de...
Favourite Music: AnY NiCe sOnGz...
Favourite Books: I hAtE reAdinG...

My gosh.
You might as well just leave the favourites part blank, if you're as shallow as to "like all the nice movies and songs".
Yes, you're SHALLOW.
If you haven't noticed, different people have different preferences. So when you're asked to name your facourite movies and music, you're supposed to actually say something concrete, you know? Or else I'd just assume you like all the movies and music in the world.
Which probably wouldn't be true now, would it?
Your likes and hates are very general. It'd be better if you could at least write something more...uh...interesting about yourself? A little more substance, maybe? I'm getting bored of seeing the same likes and dislikes in everyone else, coz if that were the case, the world would be a pretty boring place to live in, wouldn't it?
How un-intellectual.
And of course I'm gonna judge you. Please do not tell me not to judge you. How can I not, when you tYpE LyK TiS, act cute, call yourself a Pwincess (when you're obviously not), draw weird graffiti on your face, and keep on inviting strangers to add you on MSN and Friendster??
Friendster would be a much better community if these people just stopped being so weird.

I have three piercings on my left ear, and two on my right.
Should I go for a fifth one?
I'm kinda nervous about the throbbing pain afterward.
Especially those people I see in Friendster.

My day.
I have been living in Penang for 18 years, but have never really explored the place.
Today, I woke up at EIGHT IN THE FREAKING MORNING, just to 'go for a walk around Penang'.
The entrance fee to the Penang State Museum was only ONE RINGGIT.
Super duper *cupper-upper-califragilistic* damn freaking cheap lar. (^-^)
Was an educational (and historical) experience. Lol.
Then, we visited The Chocolate Boutique. I didn't know Beryl's was a local product!!! I spent RM 75 on chocolates. I couldn't help it!!! They were sooooo tempting!!!!
Later on, I went to Gurney Plaza (yes, again; you should have noticed by now that Penang is an awfully small island with very few places to go) for some window shopping.
I am broke. Broke as in, really broke. Like how my wallet would break into two coz it's out of stuffing. Like how I'd break a leg in the hopes of finding at least an RM 50 note on the side-walk. Like how my heart is broken coz I can't buy things anymore. You get the idea.
Ever since Queensbay opened, it has become my new favourite shopping mall coz it has more shops (not to mention more branded goods) compared to Gurney Plaza.
But ever since Guney Plaza opened its' new wing, I have fallen in love with it all over again.
They have brands like MNG, Quiksilver, Billabong, and even Ripcurl, which previously couldn't be found in Penang. Even more high-end stuff can be found like Paris Hilton, and Kipling, just to name a few. That's like soooo much better than Queensbay lah!!!!!
Okay, okay. I'll stop being so materialistic. Especially when I'm the one being the broke-est here.
Watched Twilight.
Edward is SUPER DUPER CUUUUUTEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Oh, how I wished he could be my boyfriend. Being cold-blooded doesn't bother me too much. At least he will never die and leave me a widow.
I didn't win the Kakii's contest.
=(
So much for hoping for the Sony digicam.
UPDATE: Just thought I'd like to add that among the few boxes of chocolate I bought, one of them was chili flavoured. Yes, the chocolate's spicy. Literally.

I fall for you.
The best thing about tonight's that we're not fighting
Could it be that we have been this way before?
I know you don't think that I am trying
I know you're wearing thin down to the core
But hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find
This is not what I intended
I always swore to you I'd never fall apart
You always thought that I was stronger
I may have failed, but I have loved you from the start
Ohh, but hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
It's impossible
So breathe in so deep
Breathe me in, I'm yours to keep
And hold on to your words 'cause talk is cheap
And remember me tonight when you're asleep
Because tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
Tonight will be the night
That I will fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day
I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
You're impossible to find
-Secondhand Serenade, Fall For You-
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it.
Every time I listen to it, I'm reminded of that special someone and I find my eyes automatically tearing up.
I'm reminded of the times we spent together. I'm reminded of how we first became best friends. I'm reminded of how we're always there for each other, despite the circumstances.
And that certain someone is so special to me that I don't even bother writing this in my private blog anymore. That person is important to me and everyone deserves to know, because I don't care what others think anymore. All I know is, that special someone has become a part of my life and always will be.
I have said this in my private blog before, but I'm going to say it once again here.
I miss you.
