Bad day.

This morning, I woke up feeling damn groggy coz I spent the whole of last night procrastinating and telling grandmother stories on the phone studying till 5.30 a.m..

At 8.30 a.m., I woke up in a relatively sour mood coz I had three CA's that day and I didn't study for my Physics CA at all. Not that I studied much for the other subjects either.

I walked to the bathroom, just to find that the cleaner was cleaning the bathroom.

WTF lah... She usually cleans the washroom at about 10 a.m.. Of all days, why must she clean it now???

So, from the 6th floor, I had to walk downstairs to use the bathroom on the 4th floor.

Jeez.

The first cubicle that I went into, the shower's heater was out of service.

The second, the door didn't close.

The third, the water was damn freezing cold. Having no choice, I stood under the shower, shivering my way clean.

Imagine standing under freezing water at 8 in the freaking morning. The icy water practically washed away all the information I painfully stored in my brain a couple of hours ago.

Fancy that even the cold water couldn't shock me awake.

I was still half asleep as I trudged back up to the 6th floor after my brief (possibly unclean) shower.

At 9.30 a.m., I sat for my Physics CA.

Immediately after that, I crashed at K1's place. He had to practically drag me awake for the next lecture at 1 p.m..

At 2.30 p.m., I sat for my Materials Science CA and immediately after that, my Chemistry CA at 3.30 p.m..

Also no comments.

And now, I don't know if I should feel relieved that the torture is finally over, or should I freak out coz I obviously didn't do very well.

Numbness is overwhelming me.

I...

Don't...

Feel.

Anything.

The study-zombie in me has awakened.

I'm a walking undead.

The last time I felt this way, I was sitting for my A-Levels examinations.

I'm numb. Immune. Stress-less. Lifeless. Sleepless.

I'm a study zombie.

The opposite sex...

After being in NTU for almost three months, I can safely say that my social circle has finally achieved a stable state of equilibrium.

I'm sure many of you back in Malaysia (and many others overseas) would like to know a little more about my life in NTU.

Hence, I shall now blog about the few specimens of the opposite sex I have found interesting.

*Note* To avoid being charged guilty of being biased, specimens are listed in alphabetical order. Some specimens encountered which are comparatively less significant in my social circle may not be listed down.

Specimen A
Ain't called "A" for no reason.
High memory capacity (suspected of the ginko effect).
A good dance partner.
Love Like at first sight, but he already has a girlfriend.
Enjoyed dancing with him during orientation camp.
K1's best friend.
My (sort of) close friend.
Academically good.

Specimen C
Good looking.
A great friend to be with.
Damn good dancer.
Previously had a very, very, very slight crush on him.*blush*
One of my 'more senior' friends.
Seems academically stable.

Specimen J
Previously showed (a whole lot of) interest in me.
A fucking pervert.
Insensitive.
Not-too-matured.
Had a short competition with K1 once. Yes, it was over me.
Tried very damn hard to win.
Resorted to tricks and aggression.
Immediately stopped being friends with me after he found out K1 'sort of' beat him flat.

Specimen K1 and K2
Isotopes.
(Previously) good friends.
Smart asses.
Academically good.
My tuition teachers.
Good at analysing and psycho playing although both do not openly show their abilities.
Often are good friends in public, but I'm always stuck in the middle of their psychological wars.
I love observing their moves coz it's pretty much like chess.
All's fair in the game of love and war.

1. Specimen K1.
Winner.
My personal Physics tutor.
More than just a friend.

2. Specimen K2.
My personal (ex) Chemistry tutor.
My ex-best friend.
I miss him.

Specimen M
Singaporean.
I was initially kind of interested in him.
Not too bad looking.
Pretty smart.
Too bad he already has a girlfriend.

Specimen V
A really great shopping companion.
(Very) metrosexual.
A nice friend.
Knew him during Orientation Camp.

New phone!!

Sorry for the late update. Exams are coming so damn soon, and I've not been studying much. Stress is getting to me. Plus, the guilty feeling for not blogging for an extended period of time is gnawing at me.

The longer I leave my blog idle, the more guilty I feel. The more guilty I feel, the worse mood I'm in. Doesn't help that I keep reminding myself that I've not begun studying for my exam.

Of thus my cycle of not blogging and stress and moodiness goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

Gosh, what am I rambling about?

I should just shut up if I have nothing solid to say.

Anyway, this blog post is mainly just to inform you guys that I just bought a new phone yesterday.

Sony Ericsson C902.

FIVE MEGAPIXELS!!!

Cool rite? Only $398; comes with the iOne Plus plan.

***

I'm in a damn fucking bad mood now coz I've got THREE WHOLE CA'S this Thursday.

Three. Continual. Assessments. In. One. Day.

Even having one CA already stresses me out like hell.

Doesn't help much that the three CA's are coincidentally the three hardest subjects in Sem 1.

Plus, I missed several lectures on them. The ones I didn't miss, I fell asleep in the comfortable air-conditioned lecture hall. The one's I didn't fall asleep, my mind wandered away.

I've not begun studying yet.

***

Last Friday, I walked into my tutorial class without studying for a quiz.

Correction.

I didn't even know there was going to be a quiz coz I was absent the previous week when the tutor announced it.

I was even considering skipping the tutorial coz I was feeling lazy.

Imagine if I did.

I'd fail the quiz.

Thus, losing a significant percentage of marks from my final exam.

Stress.

Going to die now.

But then again...

I am academically challenged.

Then, there's the text books...

My Materials Science text book takes up four whole pages explaining what I can retell to somebody else in one sentence.

And you wonder why university text books are so thick.

And the problem with university lecturers...

They tell long, long, long confusing and unnecessary stories when it can be summarised to one simple formula we learnt in secondary school.

They think too much.

The problem with university students...

Today, I spent two whole hours trying to solve a simple physics question a 13-year-old kid could solve within 30 seconds.

We think too much.

I hate my period

Yes, it's that time of the month again.
This is when that annoying little nuisance comes along and ruin everything.
No swimming.
Stained pants.
Missed tutorials.
Painful vagina.
Troublesome toilet trips.
Depressing and short blog posts.

End.

Food Poisoning

It's been a pretty long while since I last updated my blog. Blame my horribly, horribly, horribly hectic schedule.

(Also partly because I have recently taken up a new hobby: Procrastinating.)

Was down with food poisoning.

Last Thursday night, I had my dinner at one of the canteens around the new hall area (cannot say which hall lar, later that canteen no business liao) and the next morning at around 7 a.m., I had my first poop, liquid style.

Instead of the usual single solid phase, my poop had 2 phases. Solid and liquid.

From my imaginary binary phase diagram,

Composition of solid phase: 80 wt% undigested food - 20 wt% bacteria.

Composition of liquid phase: 0.1 wt% undigested food 99.9 wt% water.

Solid mass fraction: 0.001

Liquid mass fraction: 0.999

Sorry for the scientific terms; I spent my whole of last night studying about the microstructures of alloys. For those of you who don't understand what I am rambling about, no worries. You'll understand when you study Materials Science in university.

Back to my point.

I had food poisoning.

Damn, it was bad.

Real bad.

I was bed-ridden for two whole days.

On Friday morning, after my first visit to the toilet, my tummy ache got worse.

Unfortunately, (almost) everyone was already attending lectures.

After spending 30 minutes calling almost everyone in my phonebook, K1 finally answered my call. Soon, he arrived at my room and brought me to the medical centre. He missed two lectures and a tutorial coz he wasn't comfortable about leaving me alone in my room. Later, K2 came along with some medicine and they took turns taking care of me while I alternated between my bed and the toilet bowl.

They took turns buying meals for me as well.

That night, I was beginning to feel better but come midnight, it got worse than ever. K2 accompanied me till I fell asleep at 4.30 a.m..

I thought I'd be okay by Saturday, but my condition was still as bad. K2 came over with lunch. He called a taxi and brought me to the nearest medical centre (this time, out of campus), only to find that the doctors there didn't work on weekends. So, he called a second taxi, which brought us to another clinic, which, unknown to us, was only 5 minutes walk away.

Altogether, K2 spent $12 on my taxi fare alone.

After receiving so much care and concern from two very good friends (what with two days of free meals, free transportation, and scarification of time and studies), anyone would automatically start to feel much, much, much better.

So much so that I even went shopping and bought a new pair of shoes right after my visit to the doctor.

What can I say? The shoes tempted me.

That night, the three of us went to China Town and I treated them to a sumptuous meal (eh, I spent $47 okay!!!) as a HUGE thank you.

And guess what?

I spotted Xiaxue and her ang moh boyfriend there!!!!

Too bad I didn't have the guts to approach her.

That night, we celebrated my recovery at Clarke.

Back to catching up on my studies.

Sigh.

Malaysian-Chinese are immigrants

I know this news is a little outdated, but I'd just like to share.

Click here for funny Kenny Sia-style comic!!!

Fuck the guy lah. He can just go to hell for all I care.

Government, if you wanna arrest me, you don't have enough proof, hor!!! I said fuck the guy but I didn't say which guy hor!!

Ok lah, ok lah.

Now I say sorry.

Better than some people never say sorry at all, right?

Sorry I said 'Fuck the guy'. Sorry I even posted this blog post to drop the image of the country. Malaysian government very good. They treat non-bumiputra and Bumiputra all equal. Mr Badawi very good. I love him very much. I love Malaysia very much also because it is a fair country. The Malaysian politicians never discriminate race one. Thats why I love the politicians in Malaysia.

See? I say sorry liao. Don't arrest me har...

iPod Touch, HTC, iPhone, Sony Ericsson W980??

My iPod Touch arrived today!!! Woohoo!!!!
32Gb. Only $629. Student price.
*grins*
Btw, I'm going to buy this:

The sleek, gorgeous, and better-than-iPhone HTC Touch Diamond.

Nah, I'm just kidding. The last time I checked, it was going for RM 2700 back in Malaysia. Over here, its only $598 (converted, it costs around RM1400), with an affordable Singtel iOne value plan. No doubt, its definitely more woth it to buy it here, but I can't possibly afford to buy something which costs more than a quarter of what I have in my bank account.

So, I'm looking for somebody who is at least willing to buy me the phone as an advanced birthday present.

My birthday is coming (pretty) soon.
It falls on the 20th of May.

Only seven more months to my birthday!!

*hint, hint*
I want the HTC Touch Diamond!!!!!!

Sigh...

And they say the best things in life are free.

Pfft.

That being said, I'm probably going to settle for the much cheaper Sony Ericsson W980:

The latest Sony Ericsson phone model.

But my heart still yearns for the HTC.

=(

My Chemistry CA is tomorrow and I still have chapters 3, 4, and 5 to study.

I'm so freaking dead.

P.S.: If you (yes, you) happen to be thinking of signing up for an EXPENSIVE Singtel plan but don't want the phone that comes with it, do drop me an e-mail so that can decide on the price of the HTC you're willing to sell me.

my dear classmates of year 2006...

Was feeling nostalgic and began reminiscing about the good ol' days...

5 Science 1 MGS-ians of class 2006,

Yes, I do remember that time when our teacher told us to write our names on a piece of paper and pass it around the class, where each of our classmate would anonymously write something about us. That day, we found out how much we actually meant to everyone.

I remember how we all cheered when we got first place in the Recycling Campaign. That day, we found out how each and every of our small efforts actually counted for something.

I remember how we spent our end-of-year holidays going for class trips. I remember the excitement as all of us gathered at school in the wee hours of the morning, barely getting enough sleep the night before. The craziness, the broken curfews, the gossips, the late nights. Most importantly, the friendship bonding.

I remember how we told each other how much we meant to each other during Friendship Week, and how each and everyone of us secretly made a pact to ourselves to be friends forever. I also remember how we wept over the Graduation Song. Even till now, nostalgia overwhelms me whenever that song is played.

I remember how we all had fun during our last year of schooling and despite that year being the most important exam year, I think it will be the most memorable year ever.

Even after graduation, it seems that will never really forget one another coz at some time or other, as busy as we may seem, I believe that we will always find the time to 'stumble' upon one of the few things that still holds us together. Our childhood memories, filled with ups and downs, will always be etched in our hearts.

In a few decades time, when we're all grown up, will I still remember?

They say you can never forget your first love.

5 Science 1, you guys are my first friends I have ever loved. How can I ever forget?

The difference...

You know that you've settled down in Singapore when back in Malaysia you...

1. Poke at any screen you see, thinking they're touch-screen.
2. Forget how to use a remote control.
3. Forget how to turn on the toilet lights, thinking they're activated by movement sensors.
4. Pinch your nose when you walk into public toilets.
5. Try to pay for your purchases with your ATM card instead of cash.
6. Think how cheap everything is.
7. Complain about the horribly, extremely, awfully slow Internet connection.
8. Impatiently wait for YouTube videos to load.
9. Get so pissed off waiting for ages for the public bus.
10. Have friends commenting that you speak Singlish instead of Manglish.
11. Feel damn outdated about Malaysia's political issues.
12. Wonder who Ahmad Ismail is.

12 hour marathon

Last Thursday night, I started on my Life Science coz my CA was on the very next day. I had dinner at 5 p.m., put on my Full Force Victory bandana at 6 p.m., and began studying.

*study, study, study*

At about 7 p.m., I was beginning to get a little tired so I walked to the nearby mini mart to buy myself a drink.

Shandy greatly relieves stress. You should try some. =)

Then, I resumed studying. With the occasional toilet break. And also snack breaks.
Oh, yes. MSN breaks, too.

12 hours later, at 6.30 a.m., I finally finished studying. Just on time for my CA, which would begin in 3 hours time. Which meant I had another 2 hours of sleep to catch up on, and then another hour to get ready.

I should be thankful I still had two hours to rest my eyes and my head.

My zombie-like body crawled out of bed at 8.30 a.m..

At 9.30 a.m., my CA began.

About half of the questions seemed alien to me.

At 9.40 a.m., I finished my CA.

I trudged back to my room and went right back to bed.

Twelve hours of non-stop studying for a stupid ten minute test, of which I screwed up.

My Physics lecture was at 11.30 a.m.. So, I awoke again at 11 a.m..

And took a bus to the nearest shopping mall.

Watched a stupid horror movie, Mirrors. Scared myself like hell.

I picked scaring myself silly over Physics lectures.

After the movie, I hurried back for my Econs tutorial class, which started at 2.30 p.m.. I strolled into the tutorial room at 3 p.m., when the tutor was just about to begin on the final question.

Better late than never, right?

I'M BACK IN PENANG!!! WOO HOO!!! HOME SWEET HOME!!!!!!

Patriotism

Many of us, at one time or other, has definitely thought of migrating out of Malaysia coz "Malaysia's government sucks!!", "Malaysia has low efficiency!", "Malaysians are stupid and rude!", or "Malaysia's culture is too conservative." And so on and so forth.

I have always thought of migrating whenever I get the chance.

I'm now out. Out of "useless Malaysia", into a "better, more advanced country".

And I miss home.

Yes, I miss my home. My country. My birthplace.

When I was younger, I'd hear of Malaysians overseas (especially in more developed and advanced countries) saying that they miss their home, they can't wait to be back, it's good to be home, etc. I've always thought they were shallow and stupid. I mean, who on earth would want to go back to a kampung when they've been to the city?

There are some things you'll have to experience yourself to truly understand it.

Of course, it'd like damn freaking weird to see me being so patriotic and never in a million years would I expect myself to say this but...

I miss my country.

I wanna go home.

P.S. : Of course, I'd still rather work in Singapore once I graduate, coz the pay here is higher and there are less "stupid Malaysians".

=)

Stressed!!!!!

ASS (Acute Stress Syndrome) is back. And this time, it's improved it's abilities and power. Seems to me like it wasn't very happy the last time I beat it down. I think it's back for revenge.

I'm on the losing side.

Not to worry.

Though physical strength I may have not, I've got something better.

Perseverance.

More importantly, assurance from the fact that most university students are drowning in the same boat as me.

=)

I skipped Chemistry lecture again. The last time I did that, I prioritised sleeping over lectures. Today, I prioritised watching movies over lectures.

Yes. While the lecture was going on, I was sitting comfortably in my room, several blocks away from the lecture theatre, watching Silent Hill on my laptop.

You can bet the next time I skip my Chemistry lecture again (of which I will probably run out of lame excuses for not attending the lecture) will be because I prioritise laziness over lectures.

Physics, Material Science, and Life Science CA's (continual assessment) are due this Thursday and Friday, and I haven't started studying yet.

Not to mention, I'm left behind in all my tutorials. Except for Physics. Coz I love Physics. It's one of the subjects I understand best in uni. Correction. It's the only subject I truly understand in uni. So far. It's only a matter of time that I drown in that too.

And I've got to complete my formal lab report, of which I have totally no idea how to go about it.

I'm screwed.

But no matter.

TO HELL WITH MY STUDIES COZ I'M GOING BACK TO PENANG THIS FRIDAY!! WOO HOO!!!

shopping vs studying

Went shopping yesterday.

Bought heels!!! Pretty ones!!!!

Also stocked up on snacks, stationery's, and tissue paper.

Feeling terribly guilty right now coz I didn't study much last night.

***

Whoever said Further Math was hard is SERIOUSLY KIDDING ME.

For those of you A-Levels students who are considering taking Further Math, go for it! You may regret taking the subject a few months down the road and some of you may even feel like giving up, but if you persevere to the end, I promise you, you'll do MUCH BETTER in uni compared to those who didn't take the subject.

Most importantly, Further Math isn't hard at all. On the contrary, it's like damn freaking easy.

All of a sudden, A-Levels seems like child's play.

SPM?

Close eyes also can get A.

Of course, in uni, although the text books seem very thick and the notes seem to be jibberish, and the students there seem to be able to comprehend every single thing they read, the scanario is not what you think it is. Yes, the text books are thick and the notes seem like they printed in a foreign language, but it is not true that the students' abilities are as high as what you may perceive.

I don't understand half of the stuff I read.

Mid Autumn festival celebration.

Mid Autumn festival celebration.

It was pretty fun. Too bad I didn't win the lucky draw. First prize is PSP Lite leh!!!!!!!!!

Dammit man I didn't win...

Had beer with a few friends at ADM after that.

Now my head is like pounding like hell and I can't even think/walk/study.

Stupid alcohol.

P.S.: Today, I received these:=)
